William Weatherford Memorial Park

William “Red Eagle” Weatherford and his mother, Sehoy the 3rd are buried in this beautiful site near Weatherford’s former plantation at Little River. Weatherford has become a legendary figure, a chivalrous and charismatic hero who bridged two worlds – white American and Creek Indian. He is remembered as one of the principal leaders of the Redstick War, which featured the bloody battle at Fort Mims. Weatherford’s influence among the Americans and the Creeks was a product of his mother who was from the very powerful and esteemed Wind Clan.
