Cemetery

The Montgomery Hill Baptist Church cemetery adjoins the church property and the older markers date before the Civil War. Many plots have wrought iron fence railings surrounding them. The earliest grave has no death date and the inscription reads “A young lady visiting here.” You can also find the graves of descendants of survivors of the Fort Mims Battle/Massacre and Confederate veterans, as well as veterans of most of the United States subsequent wars. It is a well-kept cemetery with easy access and walkways and is a quiet, peaceful place.
